So, she knew she was going to be in trouble. Bella glanced out the window of her truck, watching the La Push tribe's homes swing by as she drove past. She wasn't going along at a quick pace. She was not eager to have to deal with the inevitable anger Edward would feel. Not that she could blame him. She'd run off, with no notice, to the one place he couldn't follow her and protect her. She'd have been angry too. She frowned somewhat, her grip on the wheel nearly as tight coming out of La Push as it was going in.
Finally, she knew she was coming across the boundries. She didn't see the Volvo, but that wasn't something to note. Edward could be waiting at the house, or even waiting on foot. She wouldn't put it past him. However, the speed she'd been going didn't increase and her tension was still high as she began the ride back towards Forks, awaiting the moment Edward would surely find her.

Edward had been a little bit on edge since he’d left Bella, a stupid move, one he still hated to think about, but what bothered him more was Jacob Black and the friendship Bella and he had formed, though Edward was sure it was more then friendly on the wolf’s side. Maybe he was being unreasonable about the whole situation with him, but he was doing something close to his best to be supportive. The fact that he couldn’t be on La Push territory wasn’t making this any better either, and mixed with the fact that Alice couldn’t see the wolves; well that was just a mixture for disaster. That was why he was so on edge today, he’d had Alice looking over Bella since they’d first really met and well Bella had just disappeared.
Panic was something he knew he shouldn’t have let get to him but he did, not know what was going on with her wasn’t something he handled well. Of course the obvious answer was that she’d be visiting the dog, but the fact that he couldn’t be certain worried him, and checking up on his theory was forbidden, though he figured the wolves would love a reason to get at odds with his family. Anger wasn’t exactly the most dominate emotion at the moment, worry was making it’s way to the top of his list as he’d paced slightly at home. He was waiting as patiently as he could for Alice to see Bella again, that’s all he wanted. Of course once his sister saw her, he’d be in his car and on his way to see her. He’d been debating on whether to meet her at the boundary line but that could cause an argument and he didn’t want that, her house sounded like the best place, he knew Charlie wasn’t there at the moment.
Edward was in his Volvo and on the road as soon as he’d got the word Bella was on her way home, a slight wave of relief rushed over him. She was fine, that was a plus. As he drove, his index fingers tapped the steering wheel as he waited for the Swan house to come into view, it seemed to be taking longer then he remembered, but eventually he pulled his car to a stop in front of the two story house, turning it off and getting out of the car. He walked around to the other side, so he’d be off the road and leaned against the car’s frame, crossing his arms over his chest as he waited. He listened carefully for the familiar roar of her truck and was happy to hear it coming closer.

Bella had gotten past the boundry lines and was currently driving along the road she lived on. No sign of Edward or the Volvo yet. Her let herself relax somewhat. Perhaps he wouldn't be as angry as she'd been envisioning. If he was, he would have already been there, asking what was the matter with her. Her fingers loosened on the steering wheel as her home came into view. She realised very quickly that her father's police cruiser was missing and in it's place a familiar silver volvo. The absense of Charlie's car was nothing, he was at work. The silver volvo brought along with it several stabs of emotion. She saw Edward leaning against the vehicle, his arms crossed against his chest.
Sheepishly, she pulled into her usual parking space and cut the engine quickly. She was never embaressed for her truck unless Edward was around. He didn't quite appriciate her truck the way she did. He felt as if something faster and newer would better suite her. Bella however, was satisfied with her loud, grumbly truck. It got the job done, at any rate. She opened the vehicle's door and slid out easily, shutting it behind her. She smiled crookedly in Edward's direction before moving towards him, bringing a hand up to his crossed arms.
"Hey," She said, trying to seem calm and collected. "I hope you weren't worrying about me." Bella tried to keep a smile on her face for his sake. She knew he'd probably spent the last few hours pacing the Cullen household and she hated to be the cause of any distress on his part. So, she tried to keep a smile on and the mood light.

Edward was glad that he’d decided to not go to meet her on the road that probably wouldn’t have worked in his favour. And the fact that they would have been very close to La Push could have meant the possible run in with Jacob, not something that he wanted to deal with right now, not under these circumstances. Edward would have appreciated a call from her, though knew why she didn’t, he wouldn’t have allowed that, would have found a way to prevent it. Of course calling once she was already there would have made that impossible for him to do then. But she hadn’t done that and he’d probably over reacted, not like that was anything knew for the vampire.
Hearing the roar of her truck, usually something he commented on, he rather welcomed it now. Bella was back in Forks and they could be with one another. Though he was rather curious as to why she’d headed to see the wolf. He was hoping the unanswered letters would end their gatherings, but honestly, he’d kind of been the reason behind why they’d gotten so close, but that didn’t mean he was going to be any more reasonable then what he was going to be. When the engine was cut, Edward turned his head towards her, seeing her smile crookedly at him; he gave her a light smile. Though his facial expression was rather blank, his goal was not to let this get to him too much.
Feeling her hand on his arms, Edward uncrossed them and stood up off the car so that he was facing her. “Hi” Edward said his eyes quickly looking her over, glad to see that she looked unharmed. “I didn’t know where you were, Bella” Edward told her trying to keep his voice from showing either too much worry or the slight anger that he felt. But Edward had a feeling that she knew how he’d be feeling about this spur of the moment trip to La Push, to Jacob.

For a moment Bella averted her gaze from the vampire she loved. He was good at hiding things from those closest to him, but not from Bella. Not now, anyway. More than one emotion came from his form. Worry hued with anger. At least it wasn't anger hued with worry. It hurt her worse when she knew she'd done something that caused him anger, it was something she really tried to avoid. Not that worry was any better but it was something she herself could handle with a little more ease. She didn't quite know how to handle Edward when anger came. Absently she knew that he'd never bestow any real animosity on her, something for which she counted herself lucky.
"Yeah you did." She replied, bringing her eyes back up to his. Of course he knew where she was, she'd been the only place that he couldn't follow by her side. If she'd been anywhere else in the world he'd have known. The wolves were a real problem for Edward because not only could he not be with her, but he couldn't even tell what she was doing or how she was doing. Alice's visions had a certain hinderance when it came to the wolves, something Edward didn't like at all. Bella's smile had faltered somewhat when he had spoken, picking the worry out of what he tried to make out to be a carefree tone.
"I'm sorry," her voice was quiet as she then pressed herself against him, bringing her hands up to his chest and laying her fingers on him. She could feel the cold of his skin through his shirt and pressed herself a bit harder against him, knowing she wouldn't budge him unless he wished to move. "I had to go see Jake. I had to... to set things straight." She said, her head against him for a moment before meeting his eyes once more.

Edward found it incredibly difficult to be angry at Bella, he preferred to place blame somewhere else when he saw fit. Like right now it seemed to make him feel better placing the blame on Jacob. If he would have answered the letters, picked up the phone this could have been avoided in Edward’s mind. It was easier that way at least, usually if there wasn’t anyone else to blame, he usually put it on himself. He liked seeing her happy, and after what he’d done to her a few months ago her happiness was a priority, well unless it was visiting La Push since he couldn’t be there with her. So with that he attempted to look less upset, not that anyone else would guess how he was feeling, well minus Jasper but he didn’t count.
She was right, he knew vaguely where she was, he’d give her that. He looked down slightly, he wanted to be okay with this, but the fact that her best friend wanted to be much more then that wasn’t helping the situation. “But I didn’t know if you were okay” He said, which had become more of a problem since his return to Forks. It had bugged him while he was away, but asking for updates, wouldn’t have helped him do what he’d wanted though he’d wished he never even thought of leaving her. Seeing her smile fall Edward knew she saw through him he brought a hand up to the side of her face, lightly cupping her cheek, giving her a small smile, seeing if that would make him appear more genuine.
“I know” Edward told her wrapping his arms around her when pushed herself against him, feeling the heat of her body easily, something he’d missed when he was gone. He could faintly smell the scent of dog and he didn’t like it mixed with her scent but it would go away soon. He embraced her tighter, but not enough to hurt her when she pressed against him more. Edward looked down at her when she mentioned setting things straight. He could give this sort of talk a try, well he could attempt it anyway. “Was he friendlier?” He asked, not exactly the way he’d pictured it, but he’d handled it better then what he could have, so far.

Bella sighed somewhat, a bit of relief coming to her as Edward wrapped his arms around her. She knew that he wouldn't hold the grudge for long. One couldn't even call it a grudge. He worried far to much about her and her human condition. To Edward, nearly everything she did was a risk. Not to say that for her, most things she didn't weren't risky. Getting in the truck to go to school in the morning was risky. Walking up the stairs, risky. Her inerrant streak of bad luck and ability to trip over thin air really hadn't been helping her lately. These poor qualities made her life a hell, but at least Edward was there to pick her up after she'd fallen to the floor.
She shrugged slightly, still pressed to him and not wishing to let the embrace end just yet. "It varied depending upon the topic of conversation. I can't get him to overcome his... animosity towards you." She sighed somewhat, her brows creasing. She knew it took Edward a great deal to even speak about Jacob with any sort of couth. However, she was grateful to him for asking. That was another reason amoungst many that she loved him so deeply. Despite everything he always had her best interests at heart. Even though sometimes he did the most idiotic things to try and save her feelings, he did them out of love. This time, he taken to the conversation well, seemingly to genuinely want to know how things went. However, Jacob and all of his aggitation was behind her at the moment. Though she felt bad, being able to forget about him so easily when in Edward's presence, she looked up at the love of her life. Her eyes sparkled somewhat as she took in his features, still amazed with him and that he could bother himself with someone like her.
She pressed a kiss to his cheek bone, trying to keep herself in check. Edward had the self control of a saint. She, however, couldn't say the same for herself. He'd had many years to practice. Bella tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear, still leaning against him.
"How was your day? Aside from the last few hours, anyway."

Edward was perfectly at ease when it was his arms that she was wrapped in and nothing could get to her, not even her unnaturally clumsy nature. That was still something Edward hadn’t come to understand, she’d had experienced some death defying acts, many he counted as a fault of his but there were some he wasn’t sure any other humans could actually have gotten themselves into. Like attracting a vampire in a mix of very good and bad ways, but harming her wasn’t something he would consciously do, well in that sense. It was probably her misfortune that made him so protective, and the fact that he couldn’t bare to let anything take her away from him, there would be no dealing with that.
Feeling her shrug Edward looked down at her, wondering now how the talk had actually gone. Hearing what she said about Jacob, his expression changed just slightly, being one of more thought, “I doubt that he will ever change his feelings towards me. One can hardly blame him in a sense.” Edward said, knowing Jacob had justification for some of his behaviour towards Edward, but not for all of it. He kept his body from tensing at any point when they spoke of Jacob, he wanted to show her that he was making an effort with this, even if his progress was minuscule but it was progress. His thoughts were completely hidden though when he wasn’t around Bella or when he was in the presence of Jacob. But being face to face with the wolf was not the way for Edward to work through this, not when he was quick to temper and Jacob couldn’t keep his thoughts to himself. Edward continued to look down at Bella, she was everything to him, and seeing the look in her eyes made him smile.
The smile stayed on his lips as he felt her own place a kiss on his much colder and harder skin. He admired the fact that she tried to keep herself controlled. He knew it was difficult, for either of them, knowing his control was only as good as it as because it had to be. “It was uneventful for the most part. The house was quieter then usual. Its much better now, though.” Edward said placing a kiss on the top of her head.

A much easier smile came to Bella's lips as she listened to Edward's voice. While his words concerning Jacob were somewhat strained, the rest of the conversation lightened considerably. Later she'd commend him for dealing with the subject of Jacob so well. Now, however her thoughts of the wolf were slowly trickling away. Late tonight when she laid in Edward's arms and began to fall asleep she'd remember him and it would hurt her to know that she forgot him so easily. She was so fickle sometimes. But that, she would deal with later. For now, it was just she and Edward. The only two people that mattered in the world.
She pulled away from him somewhat, sliding her small hand to his larger one and tugging on him. He came to her easily, something she wasn't surprised about. Edward's mood was lifting and thus he allowed her a bit of leeway. He'd continue to go about in a good move as long as she played her cards right. She gave him a smile and tugged him towards the front door of the Swan household.
"Glad to help make things better." Bella said, taking out her keys and unlocking the door. She swung her head back around to look at Edward, hair flinging over her shoulder as she attempting to pull him inside.
"Charlie'll be home soon I'm sure. So sit down with me for a little while." She said, now holding his one cold hand with both of her much warmer ones. She loved the feeling of his hands within hers. Even though after a while the cold was almost biting, she'd rather him have his hands on her forever than ever be forced to let him go.

Edward still wasn’t comfortable in a sense with this subject but he was no longer hostile towards it. That was usually the only topic of conversation that caused a sort of tension to be formed between him and Bella. Everything else was rather smooth between them. The fact that he knew the topic of Jacob wouldn’t last long between them helped make it easier for him to deal with it. Though Edward could never be completely sure if Bella ever got the wolf off her mind, and he’d never know because that wasn’t part of her thoughts that he was curious about. He didn’t need to know that, well he didn’t want to know that, it wouldn’t improve or keep his moods in check, something he’d been working on the last little while.
As she pulled away slightly, Edward let his arms go looser around her so she could move as she pleased. He was forgetting, or rather pushing the fact that she’d gone to La Push with no word to the back of his mind, forgetting things didn’t come easily to him. But pushing it aside made him in better mood, and he hated being in an off mood around Bella. Feeling her hand in his Edward moved when she pulled him towards the house, he always let her pull him along, though he’d go anywhere with her if she wanted him to.
He watched her unlock the door a smile still lingering on his lips, “You always do.” He told her as she turned her head to look at him. Knowing she couldn’t actually move him by herself, he went with her when she pulled him inside. Edward smiled when said to stay with her for a while, of course she knew he would. He’d be at her house more then he was if it wasn’t for Charlie’s rules. “I’ll stay as long as I can” Edward told her wrapping his fingers around one of her hands, loving the warmth he was feeling from her hands, it was much better then the constant cold that he’d felt for years.

She felt the red creep into her face and turned away from Edward in an attempt to hide it. She knew he'd noticed already, he noticed everything about her. How fast her heart beat, how much adreneline pumped through her veins, everything. Hiding something as simple as blushing cheeks was downright impossible, but she had to try. Bella, even after several monthes and a lifetime ahead of loving Edward she still wasn't entirely used to his romance. If anyone was a gentleman of old, he was and with good reason. He once lived in a time where being a gentleman was expected of him. Wooing was something that had been bred into him and something that most men of this century truely lacked.
Bella tugged him along, Edward allowing her to pull as she pleased. They arrived to the living room, not the perfect place to be but it would have to do. She'd much prefer to sit with Edward in her room, however Charlie would be home in a few hours and finding Edward in her room without him there could turn out problematic. Even though Edward could read her father's mind and tell when he was coming... well. It still wasn't something she wanted to risk. Edward could zip down to the living room with the quickness but Bella, not so much. Besides, she'd probably fall down the stairs in the attempt, so why bother? Bella was glancing through the DVD collection in front of the television. The collection was medicore at best, but it would have to do. She still held Edward's cold hand in her own as she scanned through them, trying to decide what they could watch. She finally settled on something that wasn't awful, but would also give her enough excuse to ignore it for moments at a time so she could focus on her boyfriend.
"This alright?" She asked, holding the case up to Edward, the redness having left her cheeks now. She looked up at his taller form, smiling up at him. It was difficult not to find something to be happy about with him around.

A smile made its way onto Edward’s lips as he saw her cheeks tint a pinkish color before she turned away from him. Noticing that may not have been something he could have done had he not had the advantages of a vampire. Of course with the amount of attention that Edward gave to Bella, it was rare that he missed anything, basically just missing out on her thoughts. He could sense the heat before it actually hit her cheeks, but the fact that she attempted to hid it from him was what he considered to be a sweet gesture. Edward enjoyed in a sense seeing the red rush to her cheeks, seeing the tint to her slightly pale skin. It was one of the many things about Bella that made Edward smile and love her more. He still wasn’t completely sure which things that he did made her blush or for what reason. He wasn’t use to having to actually read people without knowing anything they were thinking, so he was still getting use to it. He’d come to the conclusion that his way of showing affection and compliments caused this reaction out of her.
Edward had no problems with Bella tugging him along, he’d allow her to tug him along anywhere that she wanted him to go, as long as he got to be with her there wouldn’t be a problem on his end. Edward followed beside her into the living room, not really their usual place to hang out but knowing the time, he knew Charlie would be home soon and Edward wasn’t really on her father’s good side at the moment. Of course there were always ways in which to get around things but Edward also held respect for her father’s wishes. He didn’t want to dig himself into a bigger hole with Charlie so it was best that Edward did things that her father would approve of, it would also make things easier on Bella which was his main focus. Edward watched Bella as she scanned over the DVDs that were around her television set, not minding which one she’d pick, it wouldn’t bother him which they watched. He was getting use to the warmth that he felt from her hand in his, liking the lingering affect of it.
“It’s fine” Edward told her, his topaz eyes flickering to the case cover when she held it up for him before his gaze switched back to her face to see her smiling at him. It didn’t take long for his lips to curve up into a smile upon seeing hers.

Bella had doubted that Edward would have much of a problem with the DVD. She could have pulled out a musical or a gothic horror and he probably would have had the same reaction. Typically Edward watched a movie without really watching it. She was sure he focused on her heartbeat or other such things she considered nonsensical but that he did not. Inwardly it made her smile to think that he could find her so interesting that he'd choose to listen to her body than to watch a movie. Honestly she hadn't any idea what was so intriguing about her. Her body functioned the same as any other human who was in decent health. However, Edward could sit with her for hours with no entertainment to speak of and seem content. It was odd, but deep down it made her feel special. Even if she did still feel quite undeserving of such a deep connection with another being.
Bella was quick to put the DVD into the player and again, tug her Edward to the sofa. She grabbed for the remote, clicking a few buttons as the DVD menu prompted her to. Finally, she tossed the remote onto the side table and reached for a blanket that was kept tossed over the back of the sofa. Sitting with Edward was always a pleasent experience but he tended to get a bit testy when her teeth began chattering. So, she'd recently begun thinking ahead and had drug a blanket out of the linen closet and perched it over the sofa. She'd told Charlie she was trying to make the living room seem 'homie'. Little white lies never hurt anyone, right?
Bella wrapped herself in the blanket before giving Edward a nudge, an attempting at pushing him onto the sofa. With any luck he'd be just as charming as he usually was a feign falling onto the couch so she could jump onto her and pretend that she was just as perfect as he was for a moment or two and snuggle up to him to sit through the movie.

Bella could have picked the worst movie ever made to date and Edward would have gave her the same response, and he knew that she was well aware of that. There wasn’t anything in the world that could capture his attention like she could. Of course his multitasking abilities would allow him to tell you a detailed summary of the movie after he’d watched it, or after he appeared to have watched it. His focus was always divided around eighty-twenty when Bella was in his presence or at least somewhere close to him, the bulk of his attention being placed on her of course while the smaller amount was devoted to making sure that he never missed anything. He’d perfected that part of his personality not long after meeting her, and it never crossed his mind that he should pay less attention to her, actually to Edward that was quite absurd. He knew that some thought that the attention that he paid to her was more then abnormal, and he had a feeling that Bella may be placed in that group at times, but she was truly all he needed, most nights he spent with her he just watched her sleep, listening to her breathing and heart beat.
At times like this Edward could probably be classified slightly as a puppet, he’d allow her to dictate what was going to happen and he’d follow along, he didn’t want to do something that would in anyway make her cross at him. Even if those times were quite rare and lasted short periods of times, he wanted to make them as obsolete as he could. He made his way to the sofa with her, watching her go through the motions of getting the movie set up before she reached for the blanket. Seeing her grab the blanket made his smile at her, he wouldn’t have to worry about her getting too cold, which often happened when they sat with one another and there was nothing between them. He wasn’t always fond of having to do that, but he didn’t want her to catch hypothermia either, that would be hard to explain to Charlie.
After she had herself wrapped in the blanket, ready for the two of them to cuddle and watch the movie, he felt her give him a nudge. He knew what she wanted and he wasn’t going to deny her it. At her nudge, like another human may have done, Edward did his best to flop onto the couch with as little perfect as a vampire could muster. It had taken him a while to figure out how much force he could use to exert on the sofa when he tossed himself down onto it not wanting to break the furniture. He looked up at her when he landed on the couch, he had his arm along the back of the sofa, ready for her so that he could then wrap the arm around her when she joined him.

As usual, Edward had done exactly what she had wanted him to do. Bella smiled down at him, sitting there as if her were any other human young man. His legs sprawled comfortably, arm resting on the back of the sofa and oh-so-inviting looking. Although, he could have rolled in mud, let it dry and then bathed in vineger and still be attractive, but that's beside the point. Grinning, Bella flopped onto the sofa next to him, her all to human attributes making it much easier for her to flop than for him.
She brought her feet, snug in a pair of socks that she'd deliberatly neglected to take off, up to tuck beneath her as she snuggled up to Edward. She rested her head at his collar, a hand on his stone-like chest. Even though she knew that the rythmic rise and fall of his chest in no way accounted for actual breathing and that she was resting her head and hands on what was, essentially a marble slab, she was happy. No one else could possibly cause her any greater joy than the hundred-something year old vampire the sat beside her. Even though she didn't know what she did to attract him nor what she could possibly be doing to keep him, she was grateful. Everyone always says to never look a gift horse in the mouth so, she'd just accept his love and pray to God he never found that someone out there that was better than she was.
Bella tried hard to keep still during the movie, but it was difficult. Edward had had many years to deal with his hormones, but Bella not so much. She often found her fingers straying down Edward's chest just lightly touching him before she'd catch herself. Soon she knew he'd probably grip her fingers and hold her hands just to keep her at bay. She wished she had more self control, but she was working on it. At least she hadn't begun smothering him with kisses, which was what she would like to be doing at the moment.
