Edward was what you would consider a none too impressed vampire at the moment. He’d had a talk with his family a couple of days ago about the ever persistent Victoria. He was fine with the fact that they were getting help with her from the wolves, he just wanted her gone so that Bella would be safe, that was all he wanted. But it couldn’t be just that simple, no it never was. Edward had no idea why he’d been picked for this little meeting that he was on his way to, it made really no sense. Emmett would have been a better choice then Edward well at least it would have been in Edward’s mind especially since he was meeting Jacob. Any wolf would have been fine, but why Jacob, they knew Edward and Jacob didn’t get along, well it was worse then that but he had to go anyway. But he’d throw his beef with Jacob aside as best he could today and talk about what they were really meeting for, well at least that’s what he told himself.
It had been quite a tense day for him, and luckily it was a sunny day so Bella would haven’t to seem him like this. He’d also feel compelled to tell her about this one on one meeting, he’d mentioned a meeting between the two groups, but he didn’t want her to worry about either him or Jacob like he knew she would. Of course he hated keeping it from her, but they could be civil about this he figured, even if he knew that was a bit of a lie. The meeting was set for four, so it wasn’t a surprise that Edward was already running through the forest towards the meeting point, the boundary line. Something Edward couldn’t cross but Jacob could come and go as he pleased, lacking some rules of fairness yes, but Edward had no desire to enter La Push so he wasn’t complaining. Nothing appealed to him there, maybe the odd deer that was too close and then slipped over the line, that was annoying and temped him just to cross the line long enough to grab the deer but he’d get in trouble in more then one way.
Finally reaching his destination Edward, remembering to wear a watch check the time. Five minutes to spear he watched the woods for any sign of Jacob, wolf or human Edward didn’t care they could communicate either way. It wouldn’t be the first time it looked like Edward was talking to himself, he was quite use to it by now. Patiently he waited while he listened to the second hand on his watch tick down the remaining five minutes which would drive him normally insane if it wasn’t keeping him from pacing. Usually he had patients depending on what he was doing, but waiting for someone he didn’t really like when he could be doing something better with his time. Of course he’s late, I should have guessed. Edward thought to himself. Crossing his arms over his chest, he wasn’t going to pace just yet Edward continued to keep his golden eyes on the forest in front of him waiting, remaining in the same spot standing statue like.

Jacob Black was tired. He had been lacking sleep for the past week and a half, barely getting three hours two nights ago, beyond that, he and the rest of the pack had been on code red. Bella had come to see him less than a week ago, and that started it all. She came to him to confront him, and they ended up hanging out and talking, alot.
From that moment on, she was gone, she had been apparently dragged away to see Bella’s mom in Jacksonville with guess who... Edward Cullen. Jacob was less than thrilled about this, and he made it known to Charlie every time he called the house, every day, three times a day to see if she was home yet. Why did Jacob care? One- Bella was his friend, and he loved her more than anything in the world, and that bloodsucker was not going to kill her. Two- Sam had asked Jacob to check in on Bella to see if a war needed to be started. Point being, he was being ever faithful with that particular order.
That is what brought Jacob to the boundary line that day, another order. As much as he had protested the idea in his mind, he knew deep down that he wanted to speak with the infamous Edward Cullen, slayer of animals and dead lover of his best friend-should-be-lover.
So he waited, in wolf for by the boundary line, early, unlike himself but he wanted to be prepared. He was far enough away that Edward would not be able to hear him, he had tested that out a few weeks ago when he confronted Edward and Bella about the bikes. He knew how far was just far enough to not be heard.
Through the shadows the red wolf sat almost as though he was ready to pounce. Sam had wanted him to go at Edward in wolf form, so they all would be connected, but Jacob was not planning on that, or at least he had been planning to do that until he saw Edward Cullen before him standing there looking rather annoyed about the whole thing. He knew then that he wanted to hear his own rage leave his body, not just have it vented up and released through mental yelling. Edward Cullen had come to talk to him, about Victoria, but that wasn’t all Jake wanted to talk about....
‘Jake! What are you thinking! This is business! Stick to the plan bro...’ he could hear Embry’s thoughts echoing through his mind as Jacob let it slip what he wanted to do.
‘Shut it Embry, this is my ONLY shot to talk to him. I will ask him all that, but if you think for one second I am going to pass this up, you are insane. And I am not letting any of you get in my mind and let him hear what I am planning. So SCREW OFF.’ Jacob was furious now with Embry, and Quil who butted in after that trying to calm both boys down.
‘Jake come on, just lighten up, Sam just wants you to do this wolf form. Come on buddy. ‘
If it was possible Jacob rolled his eyes at the last thought entering his head, “Shut it Seth! Sam isn’t here is he... so I’m doing this my way.’ With that Jacob changed before he could hear anymore objections. He covered himself appropriately and headed out into the clearing walking away from the covering of trees.
“Bout time you showed up Bloodsucker.” Jacob was far from impressed about this idea, but all he had running through his head were thinks to keep him from loosing it, everything Sam wanted him to ask. And mainly the thought ‘God I hate him, I just wish Bells would let me kill him.’ His voice had been low, and raspy as he spoke the rather ungrateful words verbally to the vampire. Tiredness and not actually being a human for about a week tended to do that when all you did was howl.

Edward had definitely protested this the moment it started churning in Carlisle’s mind, verbally fighting it before anyone else knew what was going on. But he was fairly outnumbered at the meeting, what with Carlisle’s smooth flowing words and Jasper’s ability to keep Edward at bay. It wasn’t what Edward would call a fair argument, Carlisle would have probably made a match for this, he as far as Edward could tell didn’t have a temper. It was not a nice welcome back from the trip to Florida that he’d take with Bella. That was peaceful, he didn’t have to worry about Victoria or Jacob, just the sun but that wasn’t nearly as tough a battle as what the vampire and wolf were. He known that they’d all decided on an outcome when this happened while he was gone, making sure that there wouldn’t be away for him to back out. Edward had to commend them, but he was not impressed. But here he was just like he was suppose to be and he was trying to be nice about it. Edward was failing miserably at that point but that wasn’t the point, no one expected him to be friendly and if they did he’d surely disappoint them.
There was a plus side to this Edward figured in, they would be alone, or at least he hoped they would. If Jacob showed up in human form then Edward wouldn’t have to be as nice as he normally would when other’s were listening. That thought brightened his mood just slightly, though it didn’t show on the outer part of his body. Of course him being in wolf form would allow Edward to hear the rest of the pack, even if that was a lot of people in his own mind. But he was use to that and could ignore them easily when he wanted to. Usually Edward would kill for this much peace and quiet in his head, just left alone to his own thoughts. But with the constant ticking of the watch it was getting on his nerves. Breaking his form for a moment he brought his arm up and stopped the movement of the watch, he didn’t need to know the time anyway. He was here, he hadn’t decided that this was a bad idea and turned around so that was really all that mattered.
Then he heard the rustling of the bushes and near by trees, well not really close by, he knew the distance and he gave credit to Jacob, he’d been paying attention. But there wasn’t an once of change to his facial expression as his head turned towards the noise, though he did drop his hands to his sides watching for the first sign or a human or wolf. Edward’s eyes watched Jacob come from the tree and walk towards him glad to see that he wasn’t too impressed about this either, at least that added to their short list of things in common with each other. Hearing his words Edward rolled his eyes, “I was on time and didn’t feel the need to hide in the bushes.” Edward retorted through his locked jaw, attempting to force it to unlock but it was virtually impossible hearing God I hate him, I just wish Bells would let me kill him come from the guy in front of him. “Ii wouldn’t be that simple you know.” Edward commented, as if Edward would just sit back and let that happen if Bella gave the word.
Edward waited until the wolf came closer to him before he thought about starting this stupid talk. Edward would have preferred to be standing here with Sam, at least he wouldn’t have to worry about the talk swaying towards Bella. It was only expected with Jacob, at least that was what Edward was thinking, not bothering to give any credit towards the younger of the two in the sense of him actually staying on topic. “Might as well get this done and over with as soon as possible.” Edward thought to himself turning his body actually towards Jacob now taking a moment before he spoke wanting to make sure that his tone of voice would come off as neutral as he could make it. “Let’s try and make this quick, okay?” Edward said locking his gaze on the annoying wolf in front of him.[/blockquote][/blockquote] WHITE WORDS - jacob's thoughtsGOLD WORDS - edward's thoughts

His gaze narrowed towards the vampire as Edward spoke regarding his own thoughts. Crap he was close enough to be heard now. He shook that one off and told himself not to slip up again, though he honestly didn’t mind the reaction from the bloodsucker, it was to be expected after all, being that Edward seemed to think himself so high and mighty and above it all because he found a human that he didn’t see fit for a snack. Lucky him. Jacob just wanted to keep said human alive and her heart beating for as long as possible, that was why he was here. He had done enough of the pack warnings for a lifetime between warning Bella and warning Edward, now he was just ready to spring the moment he had legal cause for war, everyone knew it, especially Sam.
He completly ignored Edwards little lecture about being on time and something about bushes. Honestly Jake could care less about what came out of the leech’s mouth unless it was Bella or Redhead Vampire related. Those where the two things in his life that he wanted to deal with, there was nothing there reserving time for lectures from ancient bloodsuckers.
That’s when the bloodsucker spoke again, this time he was trying to hurry it all along, Jacob could not protest to that honestly. He would rather be chasing a Redhead bloodsucker than standing her being forced to make conversation with the one he hated the most.
“Sure, Sure.” He mumbled, rolling his eyes at the idea of actually having to make conversation with the vampire. “So, Sam has a list of things for me to go over. But what about you, Sam said Dr. Fang had a few ideas too...” He hated this part, they had to co-operate for the time being, this was not the easiest thing for him especailly knowing why Edward had been absent in the fight, and not physically seeing Bella since she returned from Florida, he was a bit ansy to say the least.
‘Stupid bloodsucker wants to get this over and done with, while I’m standing here with no way out at all, why the hell does the leech get to go to Florida? He doesn’t even like the sun I bet, melts in it or some stupid thing like that... All I know is Bella better be human or that bloodsucker is gonna have a pack of wolves on his ass in zero point two seconds, boundary or not. ‘ Jacob was internally beginning to fume at that thought, and despite the strong erge to change and lunge at his rival Jacob had to remain under control. Sam would kill him literally, if Jacob attacked unprovoked, because that would entail a breach in Treaty on the wolves side meaning the Cullen’s could initiate the war.
The boy was starting to shake, but just kept trying to calm himself down. “Stop thinking..” he told himself repeatedly in a mutter so quiet it was barely understandable. He closed his eyes for only a second to gather his thoughts and collect the piece of body that were trying to seperate and regroup as a giant wolf.

Edward was determined to not show any sort of emotion towards the wolf, so he held back the smile that wanted to form on his lips when he saw Jacob’s gaze narrow when he realized he was now in Edward’s range. Edward’s eyes rolled slightly hearing the high and mighty thoughts about himself courtesy of the wolf, it amused him at times the way that people perceived him. He saw himself quite the opposite but he wasn’t going to admit that to him. If ever there were thoughts to rival Mike Newton’s that Edward hated so much they would be Jacob’s. It wouldn’t make sense to anyone else, but Edward hated his thoughts more then he actually hated the being. A fight with him one on one seemed nice in theory but he wouldn’t provoke a war nor would he cause Bella any harm by attacking Jacob.
As much as it annoyed Edward to be referred to as a bloodsucker, to his face or through a person’s thoughts he had to admit that it was better then being called a leech though he figured that was a common word in the wolf’s vocabulary. Edward still would have preferred to sent someone else, but the prospect of talking with Jacob alone, without having to watch what he said to keep from worrying or causing stress of sorts to Bella. It could prove to be interesting in the least and he was glad to know that Jacob wasn’t planning on wasting any time on petty talk either.
He knew this wasn’t going to go over as quickly as he wished it would, talking with someone of his own kind an several hour conversation could be condensed to an hour at the least. But with the wolf it would take the full amount of time. But if this was what it took to get Victoria to meet her end then Edward would have to put up with this though he would very much like to be the one to do the honours of making Victoria obsolete.
This was going to take a long time he deduced from the small mumble he received from Jacob after he spoke. If that were how it was going to be, Edward could hope that he wouldn’t get much lip from the younger being. Edward nodded his head slightly as Jacob spoke about Sam and what he wanted, “Yes, Carlisle’s given me a few concerns to address as well.” Edward said. Had Carlisle not used that name as an alias before, Edward would have snapped at him but he knew better. He had to co-operate for the time being, especially since he hadn’t been here for the whole dispute between the two groups, though not for the reasons why Jacob was thinking. Edward could easily clear that up, but he thought he’d let the wolf squirm for a little while.
His stare on Jacob intensified more and he tensed completely, Jacob was way off on the reason as to why he’d headed to Florida but Edward had expected him to think the worst, but he was going to clear that up now. “First, I’d quit believing everything that you see in the movies, they’re so far from the truth its laughable.” Edward said, “Melts, that’s a new theory.” he though bitterly to himself. “Secondly do you think I would have brought her back if she was anything but human? Or that my family would have stayed behind. I’m not going to destroy something I helped create.” Edward was far less calm then he’d been a few moments ago but he stood stock still not trusting himself to move at the moment, “And not that its really any of your concern, but Bella and I went to Florida so that she could see her mother.” he added, refusing to be the one to break form and do anything that would make it look like he had initiated a fight, no he’d leave that to the temperamental wolf.
Edward could see that Jacob was starting to shake; they hadn’t even got to anything Edward thought would be worth while getting that mad over. But then again Edward wasn’t all that impressed thus far either he just had better control thanks to many years of keeping himself in check. “Stop thinking.” he heard though from experience he knew it never happed. “Yes, please do, things would be much easier.” Edward thought to himself, if only that could happen. Edward was alert more at the moment then before, if Jacob couldn’t prevent the phase then when it was all over, Edward wouldn’t be standing in his spot. He wouldn’t be gone but he wouldn’t be in sight. He wasn’t here to fight and he wasn’t going to.[/blockquote][/blockquote] WHITE WORDS - jacob's thoughts/wordsGOLD WORDS - edward's thoughts

Jacob’s eyebrow raised slightly as Edward started on about his thoughts. Again the boy started shaking, this time he was mad , forget trying to control himself he was pissed. “GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!” he shouted in a deep voice dangerously close to changing to a deeper growl as his gaze shot right into the vampires black eyes. If looks could kill the undead, Edward would have been dead a million times over just in the last few moments alone. “I don’t know what joy or thrill or sick twisted what ever you get from reading peoples minds, but IT IS ANNOYING AS HELL!” Jacob stalked closer to the boundary until he was almost hovering over it. “Look, Just because Bella and I have a thing going that you can’t be around for, doesn’t mean you have to dig through my skull to try and piece it all together. If you want dirt, I’ll give you dirt. If you want truth, I’ll give you truth, just name it and I’ll show it since you refuse to get out of my head every time I am around, leech.” His voice was ruff and low as he raged on about his my being read. If Edward wanted to read his mind, he would gladly open up....
“If I were you, Cullen, I would shut up about movies being wrong about mythological creatures. I don’t doubt you are alot like the movies, sure no sleeping in dungeons, but you are still a blood sucker, some things they got right.” He hated to admit it, but it was true not only about Edward Cullen, but about himself as well. Sure he didn’t need to be bit to become a werewolf, and it was easier to control than he thought it would be, and what movie assume, but the fact was, both of them were still mythological monsters, both making leading roles in films throughout the years as a villian of some sort.
Half the time lately, he still felt like a really weird twist of a villain and a hero. He could only imagine what Edward was thinking right now about his thoughts on the movies and hero crap, but he honestly didn’t care. It was his mind, and he usually liked to keep people out of it while he could. Having someone in his mind while he was human was enough to drive him up the wall, knowing when he escaped this form he would have to face a pack of wolves in his brain. He really hated joint minds whether it was a pack thing, or freaky vampire thing.
He had managed to calm himself down enough by this point to stop quivering uncontrolably, after all he wasn’t Paul, nor was he going to lower himself to those levels of lack of anger management. “Sam wants to remind you about the boundaries, and the big one--- was on our land. So he better watch it as should the rest of you Cullen. “ he blurted out rather angrily. “Sam also said something about watching the boundaries on both sides for the Redhead Leech. She’s been running through our land alot lately and then circling to Forks before heading back this way and vanishing. Do you know anything about her thats important for us to know?” he demanded of the Vampire as he waited rather impatiently just wanting to get this done.

So it was a smart move of Edward’s to comment on the thoughts of someone that didn’t fully understand the way that his ability worked, but Edward wasn’t really known for making those he disliked very comfortable. Edward’s golden eyes narrowed at the sudden out burst, though they darkened considerably, he’d have to hunt before returning home now. “If only it were that easy. Yours is the last mind I want to be in!” Edward said, attempting to keep his words from coming out in a hiss as he glared back at the taller wolf. His stare may not have been as deadly as Jacobs but it was close. This was definitely a bad idea but he wasn’t turning around now.
For the first time since he and Jacob set eyes on each other Edward moved from his spot, though it was a short distance, maybe seven steps altogether he’d used his speed to put him nearly nose to nose with the wolf cutting his breath so he would have to smell him. “If I could turn it off I gladly would, especially in your presence. I can do nothing about it, but keeping thoughts to yourself would benefit us both.” Edward said, his words turning towards a hiss near the end. His shoulders pulled back as his muscles constricted more when Jacob spoke of Bella. “If I wanted to know of the friendship that you and Bella have I would simply ask Bella myself. I have no interest in the thoughts that dwell within your mind. You should really learn of how things work before you demand things that cannot be done, mongrel.” Edward said, having to put effort into keeping his words from coming from his lips with lightning speed since he was use to having these petty arguments with Rosalie, who’s company he’d sit in permanently if he never had to do this again.
Edward’s stare didn’t let up while they stood there, “Well thankfully your not.” Edward retorted, “Less things then you know of, but it seems the filmmakers and yourself are similarly clueless when it comes to understanding my kind. Not that I claim to understand your kind.” Edward said his hands snapping into fists at his sides. It would probably take Edward hours to work this out of his muscles when the two were done with each other. Edward had stopped watching vampire movies after probably the fifth one he’d seen, the inconsistency and incredibly wrong facts annoying him too much to take any other films seriously, though the turning into a bat thing was slightly amusing.
Edward didn’t really have an issue with being portrayed as the villain in films, he’d never claimed to be any what of a hero, actually he related more so to the villain in his mind. This was one of a few things he hated about mind reading, other’s thoughts could often influence his own when his emotions got the best of him, like now he was being coaxed to thinking about stupid movies, but he worked that out of his mind. Another thing he hated at times was when people knew of his gift. Their either used it to their advantage at times, to their amusement or to tell him how much they hated him in their head, it wasn’t as if Edward enjoyed hearing every little thought one had in the run of a day, really why would he care about petty things.
It may have taken Edward longer to get worked up then it did Jacob but relaxing Edward and calming him back down was amore difficult task. Jasper really had the only real advantage over him there, so Edward was still tensed and rather annoyed with the wolf. “Emmett” he quickly stuck in there while Jacob spoke, he tended to dislike it when his family wasn’t referred to by name. “The issue has already been taken care of so throwing threats around won’t get you anywhere.” Edward said managing to make his voice go back to its normal emotionless tone, at least normal when he was talking about this sort of stuff. He went back to listening to Jacob when he spoke again as much as he would have liked to ignore him completely this was important. “It appears as if she’s staying clear of my family, which would make sense as to why she’s in La Push. I’m guessing there’s something she wants in Forks but doesn’t know how to get it.” Edward said. So he’d left something out, but he hadn’t exactly told Bella yet about this, so he wasn’t going to tell Jacob just yet, it may ad to the turmoil and put more tension between the two groups but he’d deal with that later.
