Esme let a laugh escape her lips. It was soft and subdued but it was still there. The kids were responsible enough, and if they destroyed the house, they would clean it. "Brad Pitt has nothing on you. You could beat him out any day." She held the smile on her face.
She looked at him and softly kissed his cheek. "You never let me forget your love. And I hope you don't forget my love for you." She knew they were meant for each other, and it wasn't going to change any time soon. She would stand by him no matter the challenge.

Carlisle smiled as Esme laughed, there was something about the way she laughed that really made his day. It was the simple things in life that meant the most, the ones that others hardly noticed, or paid attention to it was the details that were everything. "Really? Angelina Jolie has nothing on you. You are the most beautiful person who I have ever seen." He said to her as a grin spread across his face.
Carlisle felt the skin beneath her lips ignite. She was the only one who could ever have that effect on him. "How could I do that?" he asked her, knowing that she was the only thing that made living as a vampire bearable some days. She was the only one who could make him forget everything. Esme put everyone before herself, she gave everything and took little.
"Remember the first day we met, you were sixteen and had a broken leg?" he said to her as he smiled. "And you make me the luckiest man alive, and to be with you is everything" he said, knowing that he probably couldn't go on with out her.

"I wouldn't want my life any different than it is now. This," She motioned to the meadow. "being here with you now, is all I ever need. Sure the children make life better, but you are all I will ever need." THey were soulmates, and as such was the only necessity in her life. THe children was an added bonus in the equation.
Esme smiled. She had always enjoyed reminiscing with him. "I fell from a tree and broke my leg. You were the lucky doctor that fixed it. You never asked my why I was in that tree." Most doctors would have asked that. It wasn't normal for girls of that age to climb trees.
She smiled at him. "Carlisle, if I hadn't broken my leg that day and met you, we wouldn't be here. I don't think that our lives would have played out the same." There was a theory about that, the butterfly effect. If one thing goes differently, the world could be altered in ways that you could never imagine.

As Carlisle listened to Esme speaking, his heart felt like it melted. How was it that she knew exactly what to say? She was everything he could ever want and more. He felt like the luckiest man alive, well vampire and for all intent and purpose dead, but still what was a heart beat between them. "Esme, you never cease to amaze me." He said as he smiled. "You are my world, and my everything." He told her.
Carlisle had never even thought to ask her about it, thinking back on it now it was a strange thing for her to be doing. "I thought that if you wanted me to know, then you would have told me." He replied, "So I'm asking you this now, why were you in the tree?" he asked wondering what her answer would be.
He nodded to her softly, "True, but then soul mates are supposed to find each other. It might just have taken us a little longer, but im sure that things would have worked out." He said, trying not to think about what might have happened if not. It seemed like a life time ago, and yet at the same time felt like yesterday. "I don't know what I would do with out you." he said seriously.

Esme smiled. "I was out in the field with the horses and something spooked them. I climbed the tree to escape from being stampeded. I fell trying to get down." She said to him. She hoped it didn't make her sound wierd to be scared of her own horses.
"I am just glad that I found you. If I had been stuck with that man. I just don't know what I would have done." Esme couldn't even utter his name. Carlisle had known the story of her abusive ex husband. She had told him one night early in their relationship. Carlisle had always been a good listener.

Nodding Carlisle smiled, "Horses, really Esme, you should be more careful. After all, tree climbing wasn't as tolerated back then." He said thinking about how times had changed greatly. "However now you don't have to worry about falling out of trees. I can catch you" He said, knowing he wouldn't let anything hurt Esme. It was hardly weird to be scared of horses especially after something like that.
"Esme, you are not stuck with that man any more. And we could have met again under better circumstances." He told her, remembering how she looked lying on the cold table, ready to be buried as she was nearly dead. It was a sight that now, would kill him to see. "You never have to see him again, and now im sure he his gone. Just don't try and kill yourself again, I cant see you like that" He said, to her in all honesty.

Esme smiled at him. "Why would I fall out of trees? I don't think my balance is that bad?" She said in mock horror. The truth was, she wouldn't be in trees now unless she was playing around. She didn't do it much, but when she was alone with Carlisle she tended to let loose.
"Why would I try something like that now that I have you?" sHe asked in wonder. Carlisle was her life. She was sure that she would try again if anything was to happen to him, but when she had done it the first time she was faced with a life of solitude. But because she did it, Carlisle was able to turn her, putting them together for eternity.

Carlisle laughed a little, "I never said it was. Its just trees seem to be a well. some what of a part of life now. Emmett throws them, Edward likes to do the same, so why not fall out of them?" He said, Carlisle had ran into a tree, but still he hardly climbed them unless it was baseball or something like that. There was not much of a point to it, or the sunset that they might catch, but apart from that.
Carlisle was happy to hear her say that, "I would hope you wouldn't. And I see no reason, but Esme." He said a little more seriously. "If anything were to happen to me, and believe me it wont. But if it does, I need to know will look after the others? As im sure they will look after you, but if for some reason I am gone. Please dont try it, there is too much to live for" He told her honestly.
Carlisle wasnt planning on going anywhere, but he didnt want Esme to give up. He couldn't let her, she meant too much to him, to be hurt or upset. He just wanted her to be happy.

"Boys will be boys." She said with a smile. It was true though. The boys always seemed to be goofing off in some way, shape, or form. It was a matter of time until someone got hurt or into trouble, which normally happens when refering to the male gender. It seemed Carlisle was the most civilized of the race.
Esme nodded solemnly. How was it that he always knew her train of thought? Was he becoming a mind reader like Edward or was he just used to the way she thinks? "Alright Carlisle. I promise I will look after the children. But you must at least try to survive too." She said with a smile.

"Yes we shall. Though i have to say, I cant remember the last time I threw a tree, I tend to run into them" He said as he smiled. Carlisle tried to be civilised, as much as he could. Though he did like to goof around sometimes, as it helped let off steam, though that rarely happened.
"Dont worry about me, I will survive, at least I hope so. I have no plans on disappearing for a long time yet." He told her. Carlisle wasn't a mind reader, he just didn't want anything happening to Esme. Her words had started him thinking, and well being typical Carlisle, he had thought about something bad happening. "I care about you Esme, too much to see you hurt." He said to her softly, as he smiled.
